By Grace, Saved Through Faith

Ephesians 2:4-10

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing;
it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

True Christianity is not a smoke-and-mirrors illusion but is the reality of the Living LORD. God designed the context of salvation and life in Jesus with the abiding Holy Spirit before we ever sinned. The LORD was not surprised and had to make a quick alternate plan to express His abiding love toward mankind. ‘Even when we were dead in our trespasses’ God made the Way:

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— 1

God’s gift was a done deal before we ever recognized our need for something more of Him, all that would remain was for us to be willing to accept His work on our behalf as His gift of Grace

—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 2

God fully recognized that we were incapable of remedying our sin against Him. The sinner cannot give God anything of enough value to remove the consequence of sin, separation from the holy God. We are just resource-less—sinful cannot remove sin. It cannot be remedied by any of our own works for if we did remedy our own sin, we would immediately sin again by boasting of our abilities to be God-like. Accepting God’s grace on our behalf by believing Him in faith keeps the means His where all goodness and righteousness originates. In Him, we are restored to serve Him in the life He designed from the beginning.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. 3

Thank You, LORD, for Grace and giving us the faith to believe Your sufficiency.
